General Manager

General Manager Indonesia Permanent

This position is responsible for overall guidance and leadership of the Batam facility to guarantee compliant, high quality and timely project fabrication consistent with Company business ethics.  The General Manager serves on the offshore leadership team to help ensure strategic planning is in alignment with company vision, mission and core values.  

Essential Functions:

  • Serve on company’s offshore leadership team 
  • Develop and implement strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business objective
  • Lead and develop the company’s management team in accordance with company culture
  • Maintain and control all aspects of company’s policies including personnel conflict resolution and management
  • Report status and concerns from various departments to company’s leadership team as needed
  • Conduct regular meetings with HOD and staff to ensure that daily operations run efficiently
  • Oversee all operational activities ensuring all teams achieve their objectives for the realization of the projects in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain a high safety culture at company to ensure that Safety is of paramount importance to all personnel, subcontractors, clients and all other third-party visitors to the yard
  • Take overall responsibility for the execution and management for all activities related to the construction of company’s projects, including the overall management and maintenance of the project schedule
  • Oversee project resources allocation and selection, assignment, management, and control of subcontractors who work on company’s projects
  • Strict adherence to project revenue/cost management to ensure that subcontractors and company personnel are managed
  • Ensure that the target margin for the projects are maintained
  • Act as a primary interface between company’s project teams and client relations, particularly with respect to client reps located in the company facility
  • Work with the QA/QC department on product and manufacturing process improvements to foster a continuous improvement environment
  • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance, with a focus on improving the company’s bottom line
  • Support the global BD and Sales teams for all bidding work related to fabrication, including promotion of the yard, supporting client fabrication audits, and bidding preparation for local fabrication opportunities 
  • Represent company in relevant professional organizations
  • Actively promote and personally observe all company policies, employee handbook, safety and security procedures
  • Comply with and enforce company work schedule and timekeeping policy

  • Management experience, preferable in the oil and gas industry
  • Good understanding of local Indonesian workplace and employment laws
  • Good command of the English language (grammar, composition, spelling) and speech recognition of different nationalities
  • Good understanding and ability to speak Bahasa, Indonesia
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in the local language
  • Excellent speaking skills and being able to talk to others to convey information effectively in presentations and to individuals

Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, fume or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but sometimes high

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 10-15 years of experience in fabrication, including offshore
  • 10-15 years general management experience including cost estimation and production planning/scheduling
  • 5-10 years of experience in project management in the petroleum processing
