At BOSS Professional Services, we know the importance of writing a strong CV, personal branding and interview skills, and the opportunities that training in these areas can provide to young people as they take the first steps in their career.
As part of our drive to give back to local communities, we’ve partnered with Streamz, a local organisation which was founded as a result of the 2011 riots in England. Their mission is to be committed to finding innovative approaches to improve the employment prospects and young people in order to counter unemployment, crime and inactivity.
In July, Streamz ran their Noria Careers Project, a two-week initiative targeting young people aged 16-24. This project consists of workshops, employment visits and work experience, and Streamz partnered with LSE, City Hall and BOSS Professional Services.
One of the workshops covered included CV Writing, and this was run by BOSS Professional Services. The aim was to provide young people from less privileged communities and backgrounds with greater insight their options in terms of work, education and training. This project included 16 students from Lambeth, and we expect to work with another 45 within the next year.
BOSS Professional Services has been instrumental in providing work experience placements for Streamz’s project participants and to date, we have taken on 4 of them! Each young person has been very positive about their experience during their time at BOSS and Streamz is therefore keen on sending more young people to work with us.
It’s really important to us to work with the communities close to us, and we’re proud to have partnered with Streamz on this project to provide better training and opportunities to the young people in London who need it.
