BOSS Energy Consulting Ltd. have been retained by a leading wind turbine manufacturer to search for a Logistics Manager. We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial and cultured individual that has the experience in the renewable energy sector. The role will be based in the Chicago and you will be working for a business that is global in scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop transportation and logistics strategies leveraging supply market conditions to optimize the transportation and logistics network and total costs
• Manage import compliance and customs brokerage process with designated carriers, brokers and forwarders
• Conduct rigorous RFQ process including supplier screening, quote analysis, should cost analysis, and preparation of sourcing recommendations
• Lead negotiations and establish supply contracts including final pricing and terms
• Continually benchmark the domestic and international transportation and logistics market to understand should costs and to develop best practices
• Define and own the logistics communication process within the organization
• In collaboration with Quality, establish and maintain a highly effective logistics and transportation supplier scorecard program to assure the company’s domestic and international suppliers meet quality, delivery and cost objectives
• Drive continuous cost and performance improvements by analyzing cost drivers, processes and specifications for improvement opportunities
• Mentor and develop local logistics coordinators to help support all responsibilities
• Continuously improve knowledge through benchmarking and active participation in industry groups
• Contribute to building a flexible, world class supply chain to support the most efficient production of wind turbines and erection of wind farms
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• BA/BSc degree required
• Approximately 7-10 years experience in Logistics and 2-3 years experience in a managerial role
• Management experience with 3PL’s and other external services
• High level understanding of domestic and international transport markets, import and customs regulations and processes
• Ability to develop cost models and perform cost analysis
• Ability to negotiate and develop contracts
• Understanding of international and domestic supplier relations
